The winners will be revealed at the ceremony at London's O2 Academy Brixton on February 14
The nominations for the VO5 NME Awards 2018 have been revealed.
Lorde and Charli XCX lead the shortlisted acts, with four nods each. They will go head-to-head in the Best Track supported by Estrella Galicia category, for ‘Green Light’ and ‘Boys’ respectively.
Lorde is also up for the Best International Solo Artist, Best Album supported by Orange Amplification, and Best Live Artist awards, while Charli XCX is in the running for Best British Solo Artist supported by VO5, Best Video, and Best Mixtape supported by Bulldog Gin for ‘Pop 2’.
Elsewhere, Kasabian and Dua Lipa have gained three nominations apiece, with both also in the running for Best Track supported by Estrella Galicia.
Two new categories are featured in this year’s shortlist – Best Collaboration supported by VO5 and Best Mixtape supported by Bulldog Gin, with Drake, Krept & Konan, Rex Orange County, Dave, and Avelino up against XCX in the latter.
The winners will be announced at the ceremony, which takes place at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on February 14, and you’ll be able to follow the action across the whole night on Facebook Live.
Liam Gallagher will also pick up his Godlike Genius award on the night, before playing a special set to close the event.
Voting is now open for the VO5 NME Awards 2018. To celebrate the shortlist being revealed, The Big Moon will play a special VO5 NME Awards 2018 nominations party at London’s Omeara tonight (Jan 17).
Of the shortlist, Mike Williams, editor-in-chief, NME says: “Once again the NME readers have shown just how switched-on, diverse and exciting their tastes are in coming up with these shortlists, which themselves highlight what an amazing 12 months it’s been for music. It’s brilliant to see some old favourites mixing with a load of fresh new names, and it’ll be interesting to see which of the big guns go home with awards, and where the major upsets might happen. There’s only one way to make sure there’s love in the air for your favourite artists on February 14, and that’s to go and vote.”
