Will it rain or shine at the legendary bash?

Kasabian, Liam Gallagher and The Killers will be heading to Isle Of Wight Festival

This weekend sees the Isle Of Wight Festival return to mark its 50th anniversary, and it looks like the weather might hold out for music fans attending the celebrations.

Kasabian, Liam Gallagher, Depeche Mode, The Killers, Manic Street Preachers, James Bay and many more will be taking to the stage in Newport on the IoW this weekend, following a five decade musical legacy that has welcomed the likes of Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Rolling Stones and beyond.

As BBC weather reports, it looks like it may fortunately turn out to be a pretty dry weekend:

Thursday June 21: Cloudy with sunny intervals throughout the day and into the evening, with temperatures peaking at 19°C.
Friday June 22: Another mild and breezy day with bursts of sunshine, as temperatures peak at 19°C.
Saturday June 23: The same again, basically.
Sunday June 24: Another mild and sunny day, with high temperatures of 20°C.

Isle Of Wight Festival takes place from 21 – 24 June at Seaclose Park in Newport, Isle Of Wight. Visit here for tickets and more information.

Depeche Mode singles box sets

All of the band’s albums are set to get their own box set

Last week saw The Killers release a career-spanning box set of all of their albums, and it sounds like there won’t be too long a wait until their next studio effort.

Flowers has made two solo albums to date, with ‘Flamingo’ in 2010 and 2015’s ‘The Desired Effect’. Now, the frontman has said that while he’d love to go it alone once again, the band are focussing on making another record as a group after they’ve figured out how to work around Dave Keuning and Mark Stoermer – who both retired from touring duties with The Killers before the hit the road for last year’s acclaimed ‘Wonderful Wonderful‘.

The Killers

“The plan is for it to be a sixth Killers record, but damn, I love my last solo record!” said Flowers. “We only toured it for a few months and then…”

He continued: “The plan is for it to be another Killers record and we have to figure out how to make it work [for Stoermer and Keuning]. Mark is all over this new record – some of his best bass lines and progressions are on this record and he brings a darkness to our music that doesn’t really exist without it.”
